A Study on the Correlation Between Female University Students' Musical Activities/Preference and Human Relation Pattern

Abstract
The purpose of this research is whether musical activities and musical preference of female university students are used as a tool of assessment for relationship pattern. For this purpose, the correlation between musical activities/ preference and relationship pattern was investigated. The survey were conducted to 180 students and the data of 128 was analysed. The results of the research are as follows. First, the number of CP(Critical Parent) relationship pattern was the highest(48, 37.5%), and the number of NP(Nurturing Parent) pattern was the lowest(6, 4.7%). Second, the most preferred activity was music listening(52, 40.6%) and it was also the most doing activity(88, 63.8%). The spending time for listening was about 2.33 hours a day. There was statistical difference the most doing activity and preferred musical genre of listening between music and non-music majors. Also there was statistical difference on influencing factors of music selection and purpose of singing according to relationship pattern. Third, Korean pop was the most preferred music for listening(75, 58.6%). The purpose of playing, singing and composing was pleasure. However, the purpose of listening was comforting. There was statistical difference on preferred harmony and medium of listening between music and non music majors. Also there was statistical difference on preferred melody and theme of lyric according to relationship pattern.
